MAKEBI ZULU PRAISES DIASPORA AS ZAMBIA’S “11TH PROVINCE”

Makebi Zulu Praises Diaspora

Patriotic Front President Makebi Zulu has paid glowing tribute to Zambians living abroad, describing the diaspora as the country’s “11th Province” and praising them for their consistent support and courage in speaking for citizens back home.

Speaking during his interview following his election, Makebi Zulu thanked Zambians in the diaspora for standing with him throughout his journey to the PF presidency. The appreciation was not merely symbolic. During the live broadcast, congratulatory calls also came in from abroad, underlining the strong interest the diaspora continues to show in Zambia’s political future.

Makebi Zulu said the diaspora has remained a voice for many Zambians who are unable to speak as freely at home. He commended them for consistently raising issues affecting the country and for showing the courage to speak out on behalf of fellow citizens.

At the same time, Makebi Zulu acknowledged the sacrifices many Zambians abroad are making. He observed that while some may be earning a decent living outside the country, many carry the burden of supporting relatives back home because the current system has failed to meet people’s needs. According to Makebi Zulu, many in the diaspora are forced to divide their earnings just to ensure their families survive.

He said his vision is to build a Zambia that properly cares for its people, so that those living abroad do not have to live under constant pressure, wondering whether their loved ones have eaten. He added that the country should become a place the diaspora can proudly and comfortably return to.

Makebi Zulu also pledged that under his leadership, the right of Zambians in the diaspora to speak freely would be protected. He condemned any form of intimidation against citizens abroad who speak out for a better Zambia, saying government must respect, not threaten, the voices of its people wherever they may be.
